Could Glenfarne profit from a tax break by claiming it as an accomplishment?

Here are some questions that the Legislature must try to answer:

  • Does the secret Glenfarne contract require that the state has to pay money to Glenfarne if the Alaska LNG project folds and the company wants out? Why is it secret?

  • Does the secret Glenfarne contract say that whatever Glenfarne does to improve the value of the project must be counted in tallying up what the state might have to pay? And would legislative approval of a tax break, which would add billions to the value of the project, be treated as an accomplishment that would entitle Glenfarne to more compensation?

  • Why doesn’t Glenfarne release its secret contract with the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation?

  • Since the secret Glenfarne contract is not available, why would any competent legislator vote to give the company a tax break while being denied access to the underlying promises made on our behalf?
