Dan Sullivan blamed president for fuel prices crushing Americans
Sen. Dan Sullivan was appalled at how much it had cost him to fill up his pickup truck with gas in Anchorage, blaming the president of the United States for skyrocketing fuel prices that were crushing people across the country.
“Had it been fully empty it would have been $142 to fill up the tank of one truck. In America. Devastating to working families, but nobody’s being fooled. Nobody’s being fooled,” said Sullivan, appearing with other Republicans equally outraged at the price of gasoline.
Sullivan said it was entirely the president’s fault that oil prices had risen to more than $100 a barrel. It was the president’s fault that Sullivan had to pay $4.69 a gallon to fill up his truck.
To back up his claim that nobody was being fooled, Sullivan took a photo of a sticker pasted on an Anchorage gas pump that showed an image of the president and the words “I did that!”
“This was what literally was on the pump in my home state,” said Sullivan, acting as if the placement of the sticker by as gas pump vandal proved that the president was at fault.
All this happened exactly four years ago when gas prices rose sharply after Putin invaded Ukraine and world oil prices topped $100.
There were many reasons for that price spike, but Sullivan blamed it all on the president.
“Joe Biden. I did that! I did that! Alright? Nobody in America’s being fooled. This isn’t Putin. This is Biden,” said Sullivan on April 6, 2022.
“He did that!” said Sullivan, pointing to the “I did that!” Biden sticker as other GOP senators stood by, agreeing that Biden did that!
Biden and his underlings were “crushing the American working family with higher energy prices” by making them pay $4.70 a gallon for gas, according to Sullivan.
As I wrote here at the time, the claim that Putin had nothing to do with the spike in oil prices, triggered by the removal of Russian oil from world markets, was complete nonsense.
Alaskans now have the opportunity, in this, the Golden Age of Alaska, to pay $5 a gallon or more for gasoline. One man is responsible, a different president of the United States, who was bragging not long ago about energy dominance.
On February 27, Sullivan was a guest on Sean Spicer’s podcast. They jointly celebrated Trump’s State of the Union speech, the Golden Age of America, America’s Comeback and the Trump Energy Dominance campaign.
Sullivan was ecstatic about Trump’s speech and how Trump had lowered gas prices. Biden “literally” attacked the oil industry, according to Sullivan. But Trump was helping everyone save money with his brilliance.
“You know, lowering energy costs, the president talked about that. You know he said look that is a big tax break. We’re down I think almost 50 percent for gas at the pump during the Biden’s administration’s high, in terms of gasoline. That is a huge lowering of the cost of living in every state, certainly in my state,” said Sullivan.
But now It could cost Sullivan more than $142 to fill up his truck. Energy dominance doesn’t do a thing for the world price of oil.
Sullivan will never admit that the case for spreading Trump “I did that!” stickers is far stronger than it ever was for Biden. But almost nobody else in America’s being fooled. Trump did that!

On April 6, 2022, Sen. Dan Sullivan complained at a press conference that he had to pay $4.70 a gallon in Anchorage to fill up his pickup. He said the rise in gas prices was devastating to working families and it was entirely Joe Biden’s fault. In fact, oil prices rose above $100 after Putin invaded Ukraine, a major factor in the price spike.
