Fearmonging 101: Sullivan, Cruz claim Peltola wants to destroy American culture
Dan Sullivan and Ted Cruz popped onto Fox News for an early Halloween appearance at their fearmongering finest, claiming that Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Mary Peltola wants to destroy America and all it stands for.
Cruz complained that someone who is a “left-wing transgender witch” hates Trump, but that real Americans vote Republican.
It was a mindless performance on the character assassination tour.
What their asinine claims about Peltola revealed—suggestively tossing out the words Communist and Islamist about Peltola and her supporters—is that Sullivan and Cruz remain third-rate demagogues.
Alaskans who know the first thing about Peltola understand that Sullivan and his “good, good friend” Cruz are lying.
Cruz, clad in a Carhartt jacket that looked fresh off the shelf, said Europe has “committed cultural suicide” by allowing “foreign invaders” onto its soil. They claimed that people like Peltola would lead us toward similar upheavals here, as they bemoaned the situation in France.
CRUZ: “It’s relevant here in Alaska.”
SULLIVAN: “Absolutely.”
CRUZ: “We have seen the Democrat party in the United States facing a hostile takeover from Islamists and Communists. And this burning on the streets, this rioting, this violence. This is where it goes if the Comrade Mandamis and the Abdul El-Sayeds and the James Talericos and the Mary Peltolas.”
SULLIVAN: “And Mary Peltolas. Yep.”
CRUZ: “These radicals. This is what they want and and we’re fighting literally to save our nation.”
SULLIVAN: “And they’re trying to hide it. “Don’t let em hide it America.”
It’s in part because of tactics like this that the race between Sullivan and Peltola is a close one.
Cruz claimed this contest and others in the U.S. are close only because some voters are more energized than others.
“If you’re a left-wing transgender witch, you hate Donald Trump,’ said Cruz, as sidekick Sullivan nodded in approval.
“And you’re gonna show up. You’re energized. And the question is does everybody else show up?”
Cruz said if “common sense Americans who are not lunatics, who don’t think Communism and Islamism are a good idea” show up to vote, then Sullivan will win.
“If regular ordinary Americans show up to vote, Dan Sullivan’s gonna be reelected here in Alaska and we’re gonna win Senate seats and House seats all over the country,” said Cruz.
“Yep,” said Sullivan.
