ABC News on Alaska voters—high prices will cost Republicans
Former Dunleavy adviser Brett Huber tells ABC that Trump’s visit did not help Sen. Dan Sullivan and may have hurt him.
“I was excited about it and then I watched and I wonder why he came,” said Brett Huber, who held a record number of state jobs and campaign jobs under Dunleavy since 2018. “He made it harder I believe on electing Republican candidates, not easier. I think without knowing it he divided conservative Alaskans.”
Huber said rising costs and the pending shortage of natural gas in Southcentral are big problems.
“The war’s hurting us, without a doubt,” said Huber.
Huber’s comments were clearly also about Trump’s attempt to promote Bernadette Wilson in the governor’s race, which came at the cost of deriding Dave Bronson and Tregarrick Taylor. Trump attacked Bronson and claimed he had never heard of Taylor, who has made much of his close ties to the Trump administration.
