Trump's lies about Peltola will not help Sullivan
If Donald Trump makes good on his threat to “help” Sen. Dan Sullivan’s sagging fortunes by visiting Alaska on Bribe Force One, expect the same tired shtick from the old guy.
The Man of Gold will brag about himself, pause for a moment to lie that he won the 2020 election, before resuming his fantasies about the greatest president in human history.
Trump took time out from his busy schedule planning the Arc De Trump, his ballroom and the demolition scheme for the Kennedy Center to campaign for Sullivan from the White House, where he read a script attacking Mary Peltola.
“I won Alaska by a lot. I know what your values are. And those values do not go on to her,” he said.
Most people in Alaska know Trump is lying when he claims she is “a radical left lunatic.” They may disagree with her and dislike her positions, but she has been around long enough to establish her credentials. And she has better poll numbers than Trump or Sullivan.
“As a House member, she voted for every nation-wrecking policy of the sleepy Joe Biden administration, the worst president in the history of our country. She voted for a catastrophic energy policy that was going to destroy our country, but certainly destroy Alaska, and it caused lots of inflation,” Trump said.
The only photo of Trump on Dan Sullivan’s campaign website is not displayed prominently.
“Dan is a true patriot, a proud Marine and an American first warrior, and he always has come through for Alaska, and he's always come through for me. He was a pivotal vote for the rebuilding of the United States military and unleashing Alaska energy, and including opening of ANWR. Dan has my complete and total endorsement.
There is only one photo of Trump on the website of “Team Dan,” the joint thumbs-up exercise shown here. I think this shows that Sullivan wants to put up a pretense of keeping his distance from the exalted leader.
The Trump campaign video for Sullivan was been pieced together, no doubt by federal employees ignoring the Hatch Act, to create the illusion that Trump is focused and succinct with his message.
After saying that Alaska is special to him because of how many people voted for him, he said he is the greatest benefactor we’ve ever had.
“I also brought more back to Alaska than anybody in human history,” Trump said, possibly embellishing what he was supposed to read on the teleprompter. “There’s nothing close and nobody close. And it’s been my honor to do so.”
