Contrary to Sullivan's claims, he's not 'lowering costs'

Sen. Dan Sullivan is campaigning with wealthy Trump lackeys in Alaska, claiming that they are working together to lower energy costs.
What are you going to believe? The $4.94-per-gallon price at the gas pump in major Alaska cities? The electric bills in Interior Alaska that show the highest rates ever? The $5,000 bill that many homeowners are facing to fill up with heating oil?
Or the two white-haired rich guys boasting about “lowering costs” as they stride out of the Alaska Energy Authority, dressed in white shirts in their snappy state-supplied embroidered black vests?
Wright claimed he was in Alaska “working with Sen. Sullivan on lowering costs in Alaska. We want to give greater job opportunities for people in Alaska. Easier to pay their bills, more business allowed to open. How we doing senator?”
“Mr. Secretary, welcome back to Alaska, you’ve been here so many times,” Sullivan replied in an exchange that was not at all artificial, forced and as stiff as his white shirt.
“We just were at the Alaska Energy Authority. Right here. Did a great town hall with AEA, some of the smartest people by far in Alaska on these issues, lowering costs, creating more jobs. And by the way. First time the secretary of energy has ever come to the Alaska Energy Authority, so thank you sir for doing that.”
It was not a “town hall” meeting open to the public. Sullivan never does those.
Sullivan said Wright, who is worth about $100 million, is doing a great job for Alaska and they had a great meeting with the state employees at the energy authority.
One thing Sullivan and Wright are not doing is lowering costs.
Everybody in Alaska knows it.
I remind you that four years ago, Sullivan claimed that high gas prices after the Russian invasion of Ukraine were the fault of one person and one person only—Not Vladimir Putin. But Joe Biden.
Sullivan even named Biden the “anti-Alaskan of the week” for the occasion. He blamed Biden for forcing Sullivan to have to spend nearly $110 to put 23 gallons of gas into his F-150.
But now Sullivan wants Alaskans to believe that despite the Trump fiasco in Iran—which has led to much higher energy prices in Alaska—Trump and the Republicans in Congress have zero responsibility.
“That’s Joe Biden. And it says ‘I did that.’ I did that America. I made these prices really high,” said Sullivan, who said American consumers should continue to deface gas pumps with anti-Biden stickers.
The price of gasoline was proof, according to Sullivan, that the president was not doing enough to lower energy prices.
“People get it. Joe Biden did that. And we know it. The American people know it,” Sullivan said on the Senate floor.
Alaskans now have the opportunity, in this, the Golden Age of Alaska, to pay $5 a gallon or more for gasoline. One man is responsible, a different president of the United States, who was bragging not long ago about energy dominance.
