Sullivan attends AFN, but skips AFN candidate forum

Sen. Dan Sullivan, who complains constantly about Mary Peltola not wanting to debate him, is skipping the Alaska Federation of Natives candidate forum Friday, according to KNOM radio in Nome.

Why? He hasn’t made that clear.

Here is what he told Ben Townsend, news director at KNOM in Nome, when asked “Are you looking forward to squaring off with Ms. Peltola once again?”

Well look I've been looking forward to squaring off with Ms. Peltola eight different times. We had announced what we were going to do, and she hasn't shown up to hardly any of them. So we had this Debate for the State, which was on TV, live TV. I would encourage all Alaskans to take a look at that.

And there was a Fairbanks Chamber [of Commerce] debate just a couple days ago. She didn't show up for that. She didn't show up for the state [Alaska Chamber] debate. She didn't show up for the Soldotna Kenai Chamber debate. So the Debate for the State was the last forum. We've offered many different opportunities. I'm going to give my AFN update today, and I look forward to that. And I look forward to being at AFN with a booth and my supporters over the next two days.”

I don’t understand this. Sullivan should take part in the forum since he will be at AFN. But it doesn’t appear that he is really looking forward to squaring off with Peltola, despite his complaints.
